INEOS Styrolution has announced a €10 per tonne reduction in European polystyrene (PS) prices, effective August 1, 2025, marking a measured response to declining upstream styrene costs and subdued demand. The premium of high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) over general-purpose PS (GPPS) remains unchanged at €100/t.
The company’s pricing decision follows a larger €35/t drop in the August styrene monomer contract. By opting for a smaller reduction in PS prices, INEOS appears determined to protect profitability, particularly as its PS production is slated to halt from mid‑August through mid‑September for scheduled maintenance.
INEOS Styrolution’s modest €10/t price cut for August reflects a strategic balance, anchoring PS prices in the face of weakening feedstock costs while mitigating margin erosion ahead of forthcoming plant downtime.
