PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical has taken its Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) plant in Fushun offline for a scheduled maintenance turnaround that began on August 15, 2025. According to industry sources, the unit, capable of producing 450,000 metric tons per year, is expected to remain offline through early October 2025, marking approximately a two-month shutdown.
Strategically located in Liaoning Province, the Fushun facility holds significant weight in PetroChina’s polyethylene operations. Drawing from broader maintenance schedules across China’s polyethylene sector, CCFGroup highlights that the LLDPE shutdown at Fushun aligns with a wave of maintenance activity in Q3, collectively amounting to millions of tons per year of production capacity temporarily taken offline to help alleviate mounting supply pressures.
This extended outage could ripple through domestic supply dynamics, potentially tightening LLDPE availability and adding upward pressure on pricing, depending on how downstream demand responds.
