Canadian mLLDPE Offer Eyes China: USD 1,055/mt CFR Ports Amid Late-Summer Shipment Window

A Polymerduniya source in China reveals that a Canadian producer has floated an offer for metallocene-grade LLDPE (mLLDPE) at around USD 1,055 per metric ton on a CFR China Main Port basis, targeting shipment between late August and early September 2025.

This move stands out in the current market, not only for its origin from North America but also because it arrives amid a broader context of fluctuating regional mLLDPE pricing and sensitivity to cost structures. Past data highlights that China spot offers for LLDPE typically ranged from USD 950–970/mt on a CFR basis during spring, so this new figure appears somewhat elevated. Meanwhile, historical mLLDPE values in China have swung even higher, one mid-2024 report cited prices at USD 1,304/mt FOB Shanghai, although market conditions then differed markedly.

Against this backdrop, the Canadian offer could capture attention from regional buyers looking to secure supply into the busy post-summer replenishment phase, whether seen as competitive or premium will hinge on prevailing local supply-demand balances and feedstock cost shifts in the weeks ahead.
