Tianhong Chemical has resumed operations at its propane dehydrogenation (PDH) facility in Dongying, Shandong province, China, after completing a maintenance turnaround.
According to a market source, “The company is heard to have resumed operations at the plant around August 25, 2025, following a maintenance shutdown that began around June 30, 2025. However, an official statement from the concerned authority was unavailable.”
The PDH unit, with a propylene production capacity of 450,000 mt/year, is a significant contributor to regional supply. Market participants noted that the restart is expected to ease some of the tightness in the Chinese propylene market caused by concurrent outages at other units, although weak downstream demand in polypropylene and other derivatives may limit any immediate upward momentum in pricing.
