Market sources in China report that Shanghai Huayi Chemical has successfully restarted operations at its acetic acid facility in Anhui province. According to industry participants, the plant, located in Wuwei, is heard to have resumed production around September 4, 2025, following a short maintenance shutdown that began on August 30, 2025.
Although the company has not issued an official confirmation, the restart has drawn considerable attention from regional buyers and traders. The Anhui plant holds a production capacity of 500,000 metric tons per year, positioning it as a significant contributor to China’s acetic acid output and a key supplier to downstream value chains.
Acetic acid is an important building block chemical used in a wide array of industrial applications, including the production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), purified terephthalic acid (PTA), acetic anhydride, and various solvents.
