Shandong Lihuayi Plans Maintenance Shutdown at Dongying PDH Plant

Shandong Lihuayi Group is preparing to take its propane dehydrogenation unit in Dongying offline for planned maintenance next month, according to market sources. A contact familiar with the matter told a team member that the shutdown is expected to begin around October 9, 2025, though the company has yet to announce how long the outage will last and has not issued an official statement.

The Dongying facility, located in China’s Shandong province, has a propylene production capacity of 600,000 metric tons per year and is considered a key contributor to regional supply. Industry participants are watching closely for confirmation, as the timing and duration of the turnaround could influence domestic propylene availability and downstream polypropylene markets if the maintenance extends beyond typical schedules.

While planned outages are a routine part of plant operations to ensure long-term reliability and safety, the lack of clarity around the maintenance window has introduced an element of caution for traders and buyers. Many are monitoring inventories and alternative sourcing options as they await further details from the company.
