Sinopec Tianjin Petrochemical is preparing to bring its paraxylene unit back online in the first half of October 2025, ending a maintenance shutdown that began on July 21. A market source in China said the company is expected to resume operations as planned, though independent confirmation remains pending.
The Tianjin facility, with an annual production capacity of 280,000 metric tons, is a key supplier to China’s polyester and plastics chain. Traders and downstream buyers are watching the restart closely, as the return of output could ease tightness in regional PX markets and influence feedstock prices across the polyester sector.
While the company has not issued a formal statement, industry participants say the restart would mark an important step toward stabilizing supply after more than two months of curtailed operations. The timing comes as Asian paraxylene demand shows signs of steadying, making Sinopec’s move a focal point for both domestic and international buyers heading into the final quarter of the year.
