Ethylene prices eased in Northeast Asia on Wednesday, slipping as regional demand lost steam, while Southeast Asian values held their ground.
CFR Northeast Asia ethylene was assessed at USD 835–845 per metric ton, down about USD 5 from Tuesday’s level. An industry source, who asked not to be named, told a team member that “ethylene prices fell on the back of bearish regional demand trends.”
In contrast, CFR Southeast Asia assessments stayed flat at USD 835–845 per metric ton, unchanged day on day.
On the production side, PetroChina Fushun Petrochemical plans to restart its high-density polyethylene unit around October 4, 2025, after a turnaround that began August 15. The plant, located in Fushun, China, can produce 350,000 metric tons of HDPE per year, though confirmation from an authorized source is still pending.
