Fuhaichuang’s Gulei OX Restart Imminent; Zhejiang’s No. 1 PP Unit Faces Extended Maintenance Delay

Fuhaichuang Petroleum & Petrochemical is on track to resume operations at its Orthoxylene (OX) plant in Gulei by late August 2025, according to a Polymerduniya source. The plant, which has been offline since late June for maintenance, features an annual production capacity of approximately 240,000 mt.

Meanwhile, at Zhejiang Petrochemical, the No. 1 polypropylene (PP) unit, located in Zhoushan and with a capacity of 450,000 mt/year, has seen maintenance plans unfold with limited clarity on a restart date. While official timelines remain unconfirmed, external data indicates that the plant was taken offline for maintenance in mid-July and remains out of operation.

The Gulei restart could help ease pressure on the orthoxylene supply chain. However, the prolonged shutdown in Zhejiang may continue to limit PP availability in the region, potentially tightening downstream resin markets if demand picks up or if other units face outages.
