Guangxi Huayi Seen Restarting No. 2 Acetic Acid Line After Brief Outage

Whispers in China’s chemical corridors suggest that Guangxi Huayi Energy Chemical has quietly brought its No. 2 acetic acid plant in Qinzhou back online around September 25, 2025, following a scheduled maintenance shutdown beginning September 17. A source based in China relayed the restart, though no formal confirmation has come from company officials.

The Qinzhou No. 2 unit holds a capacity of 700,000 metric tons annually, making it one of the larger acetic acid assets in the region. Its return to operation could help ease recent supply tightness, or at least stabilize candidate pricing pressures in the acetic acid and downstream markets.

Still, the lack of an official announcement leaves markets in a bit of suspense. Observers will be watching for confirmation via procurement orders, feedstock allocations, or transport movements. The restarting of such a facility typically shifts short-term dynamics in both local and export markets, especially if downstream demand is in flux.

For now, the news is being taken cautiously, any changes in off-take or feedstock costs could quickly reshape how this restart is interpreted. But if the plant holds stable in operation, it could signal renewed confidence from Huayi in navigating volatile acetic acid cycles.
