Heilongjiang Longjiang Chemical is preparing to temporarily shut down its phenol and acetone production facility in Daqing by early September 2025 for scheduled maintenance. While the specific duration of the outage remains unconfirmed, the suspension will impact a plant with significant regional capacity, producing up to 220,000 metric tons of phenol and 130,000 metric tons of acetone annually, according to a Polymerduniya source.
The forthcoming pause comes as China’s phenol–acetone industry already anticipates easing demand amid ramping-up domestic capacity. The country is poised to add more than 1.1 million metric tons per year of phenol capacity soon, putting additional pressure on the market
