INEOS Oxide Preparing for Possible Maintenance Shutdown at Lavera Glycol Ether Plant

INEOS Oxide is expected to take its glycol ether unit in Lavera, France, offline for planned maintenance later this year, according to market sources familiar with the company’s operations.

A contact in France said the plant is tentatively slated for a turnaround sometime between October and November 2025, though the exact timing and length of the outage have not yet been finalized. “The company is tentatively scheduled to shut the unit for a maintenance turnaround during October–November 2025. The exact date and duration of the shutdown remain unconfirmed, and no official confirmation has been received from authorized sources,” the source noted.

The Lavera facility, which has a production capacity of around 135,000 metric tons per year, is a key supplier of glycol ethers used in coatings, cleaning agents, and specialty chemical applications. Market participants are watching closely for updates, as any extended downtime could tighten regional availability and influence prices in the European market.

Traders and downstream users said they will be monitoring the company’s next statements for confirmation and scheduling details, as the timing of the maintenance could coincide with seasonal demand shifts toward the end of the year. For now, the market remains in wait-and-see mode, with supply chains planning contingencies should the shutdown proceed as expected.
