Reliance Industries Raises Domestic PTA Prices in India to ₹75.50/kg Effective August 30

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), India’s largest petrochemical producer, has revised its domestic prices of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), announcing an upward adjustment effective August 30, 2025.

According to a domestic industry source, RIL increased PTA prices by ₹1.20/kg, setting the new basic price at ₹75.50/kg. The revision comes amid fluctuating regional demand trends and changes in feedstock dynamics that have influenced cost structures across the polyester chain.

Market participants noted that the increase reflects both firming cost pressures and an attempt to balance supply with anticipated seasonal demand in downstream polyester applications such as textiles, films, and packaging. Traders highlighted that while polyester margins remain under strain, the revision by RIL will likely serve as a benchmark for the broader domestic market, potentially influencing the pricing strategies of other producers.

Industry observers pointed out that the timing of the revision coincides with expectations of improved demand in the coming months, as India moves into its festival season and downstream consumption in packaging and textiles typically rises. However, the pace of demand recovery remains uncertain, with macroeconomic conditions and global trade dynamics still weighing on sentiment.
