U.S. Propylene Prices Steady as Trading Stays Light

Propylene prices in the United States held flat on Wednesday, with a quiet trading day keeping the market calm and widening the gap between buyer and seller expectations.

An industry source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told a team member that the pricing undertone remained largely stable as participants stayed on the sidelines. “There was limited trading activity and a noticeable spread in buy–sell ideas,” the source said, noting that most buyers preferred to wait for firmer direction before stepping in.

Polymer-grade spot delivered propylene was assessed at 31.50–32.00 cents per pound FD US Gulf, unchanged from Tuesday’s levels. Refinery-grade spot delivered propylene also remained steady at 28.50–29.00 cents per pound FD US Gulf.

Market observers said sentiment is being shaped by expectations for downstream demand and upcoming maintenance schedules at Gulf Coast crackers. Until clearer signals emerge on feedstock costs and production rates, they added, prices are likely to continue tracking sideways.
