Nuberg EPC of India, a global leader in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for the chemical process industry, has been awarded a contract to execute a Chlor-Alkali expansion project with a 120 tonne per day capacity and an 80 TPD Calcium Chloride Plant for Al Ghaith Chemical Industries in Sur Industrial City, Oman.
The development marks the second phase of Al Ghaith’s integrated chemical complex in Sur, as well as Oman’s first large-scale Chlor-Alkali expansion.
The project scope, which is being executed on a lump sum turnkey basis, includes design, feed, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and handover, reflecting Nuberg EPC’s comprehensive in-house capabilities across the EPC value chain.
Project execution is already underway, with completion scheduled for 19 months, reaffirming Nuberg EPC’s track record of agile implementation and delivery excellence, according to a release.
In Phase I, Nuberg EPC successfully completed a 70 TPD Chlor-Alkali Plant, establishing Al Ghaith’s manufacturing base in Oman. The new expansion increases Chlor-Alkali capacity by 120 TPD, bringing the plant’s overall capacity to 190 TPD and significantly enhancing Oman’s downstream chemical ecosystem, according to the statement.
Al Ghaith Chemical Industries is a key player in the Middle East’s chemical sector, with activities in Oman, the UAE, and the wider GCC region.
The company manufactures caustic soda, calcium chloride, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite, and other chlorine derivatives for critical industries like oil and gas, water treatment, and manufacturing. Its continuing capacity expansion demonstrates a dedication to regional self-reliance and environmentally friendly industrialization.
Nuberg EPC and Al Ghaith Industries have developed a strong and long-term collaboration based on sophisticated technology capabilities, precision engineering, and timely project execution.
The collaboration in Abu Dhabi has resulted in significant triumphs, including the completion of a 60 TPD Chlor-Alkali Plant, which was later expanded to 120 TPD, as well as the execution of a 125 TPD Calcium Chloride Plant and a 50 TPD Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) Plant, according to the statement.
Each milestone demonstrates Nuberg EPC’s capacity to deliver complex, high-value chemical facilities with world-class quality and reliability, the company stated.
“Al Ghaith’s business expansion is more than just a measure of growth; it reaffirms our partners’ deep trust in Nuberg’s technological acumen, EPC excellence, and execution credibility,” stated AK Tyagi, Chairman & Managing Director, Nuberg Group of Industries.
“Our long-standing cooperation with Al Ghaith demonstrates Nuberg’s ability to deliver world-class, value-driven EPC solutions that power businesses and advance economies. Together, we are advancing Oman’s industrial transformation by improving its chemical manufacturing environment through initiatives that demonstrate innovation, operational agility, and unwavering safety,” Tyagi remarked.
Nuberg EPC’s presence in Oman is supported by a proven track record of performance in the region. Previously, the business expanded the 45 TPD Chlor-Alkali Plant in Sohar by constructing a Greenfield 80 TPD Calcium Chloride Plant for Oman Chlorine, bringing the total chlor-alkali capacity to 75 TPD.
This proven knowledge and long-standing confidence in Oman’s chemical manufacturing sector add to the significance of the new Al Ghaith Industries project, demonstrating Nuberg EPC’s sustained role as a preferred partner for vital process industry advancements in the country, it noted.
