US and Asian Ethylene Prices Hold Steady Amid Market Caution

Ethylene prices in the United States began the week unchanged, reflecting a market caught between steady fundamentals and reports of operational hiccups. According to a source, a handful of cracker issues have emerged, though these disruptions have not yet been significant enough to alter the broader pricing picture.

On Monday, spot ethylene in the US Gulf was assessed at 19.50–20.00 cents per pound FD, flat against last Friday’s numbers. The stability underscores the market’s current balance, where supply remains adequate and demand shows little urgency.

Across Asia, the story was much the same. CFR North East Asia assessments were steady at USD 805–815 per metric ton, with sentiment muted as buyers and sellers weighed limited signals for direction.

For now, both regions appear to be in a holding pattern. While supply-side developments bear watching, especially in the US, the absence of strong demand drivers continues to anchor prices at their existing ranges.
