US Refinery Grade Propylene Slips on Bearish Demand, Polymer Grade Holds Steady

Refinery grade propylene prices in the United States weakened at the start of the week, pressured by sluggish demand and comfortable supply. An industry source told that sentiment remained largely bearish, with buyers showing little urgency to secure volumes amid ample availability.

On Monday, spot delivered refinery grade propylene in the US Gulf was assessed at 27.50–28.00 cents per pound FD, marking a decline of one cent from last Friday’s levels. The drop underscores the softer tone in the market as downstream activity continues to lag.

By contrast, polymer grade propylene managed to hold its ground. Spot delivered prices were steady at 31.00–31.50 cents per pound FD US Gulf, offering a measure of stability despite broader weakness in the refinery grade segment.

The divergence highlights the uneven dynamics within the US propylene complex, where downstream pull and material flows will likely determine whether the current softness extends further into October.
