West Coast South America LLDPE Prices Slide as Supply Outpaces Demand

Linear low-density polyethylene prices fell again on the West Coast of South America this week, while other Latin American markets held steady. An industry source told a team member that plentiful supply and weak demand kept pressure on sellers, with many buyers postponing purchases in anticipation of further declines. Sellers struggled to move volumes as excess material weighed on the market.

CFR West Coast South America prices for LLDPE film were assessed at USD 870–900 per metric ton, down USD 10 from last week. In contrast, CFR Brazil prices held at USD 910–940 per metric ton and CFR Mercosur prices stayed firm at USD 970–990 per metric ton.

Upstream, spot ethylene prices in the US Gulf were unchanged at 20.00–20.50 cents per pound. FAS Houston LLDPE export prices also remained steady at USD 785–805 per metric ton, reflecting the broader wait-and-see mood across the region.
