Xiang Lu Petrochemical has restarted its purified terephthalic acid plants in Zhangzhou, restoring one of China’s largest PTA capacities to the market after a lengthy maintenance pause.
Industry contacts told that the complex resumed operations around September 25, 2025, following a turnaround that began in late June. While the company has not released an official statement, traders report that production units are steadily coming back to full rates.
The Zhangzhou facility in Fujian province boasts a nameplate capacity of 4.5 million metric tons per year, making it a critical supplier for polyester producers across Asia. Its extended shutdown over the summer tightened regional inventories and lent support to spot prices, prompting downstream buyers to adjust sourcing plans.
With the restart underway, market participants are watching how quickly Xiang Lu ramps up output and whether fresh supply will temper recent price gains. Until the company provides formal confirmation, the exact timing and pace of full production remain points of close scrutiny for the global polyester chain.
