Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical (ZPC) has temporarily shut down its vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) plant in Zhoushan for scheduled maintenance, according to a Polymerduniya source. The shutdown began around August 5, 2025, and is expected to last two to three weeks, during which time operations at the facility will remain offline.
The Zhoushan plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 mt, underscoring its significance in China’s VAM supply chain.
While ZPC has previously carried out maintenance across various facilities, including EVA and HDPE units in Zhoushan, this marks the first reported VAM-specific shutdown in 2025 at the site.
Market stakeholders may see this offline period as a potential, albeit temporary, tightening of VAM availability, something to watch closely, especially given the broader shifts in China’s VAM capacity landscape.
